Castine, Maine looks extremely interesting. We wanted to spend more time, perhaps a week, in the Acadia National Park. Castine is close by and looks worth a trip there. Thanks.

O.T. Castine and the Penobscot is quite beautiful with an interesting history. I sailed from St. John, New Brunswick down the coast of Maine and up the Penobscot a couple of times.

The Battle of Castine is considered to be the greatest naval defeat ever suffered by the USA. Paul Revere was in charge of the land artillery which wasn't used until too late. He was charged with cowardice and insubordination but later acquitted.
