If a scientist did leave the country, what else would he be able to say that he could not say in a private in country interview?

Well for most people, scientists included, the knowledge that he would be able to claim asylum and SURVIVE giving an answer displeasing to the regime might, just might I say, make a wee bit of difference in the answers he would give.

When I look at the spin piece that you posted, it's clear that you highlighted only those portions that support your conclusions, and ignored the portions of the piece that indicated that cooperation was taking place.

What twaddle. Read it again. Both agreed that there was no real cooperation. You find the quote that says otherwise.
