166 Pentium, Win95, Netscape 4.7, 1.6gig drive ... it's the browser that many sites don't like, they'll give it 'illegal entry' or just freeze it up so you have to shut down and start up again .... and with a low-capacity drive i'm reluctant to load more multimegabyte files, even if they're new browsers that work [Opera sort of works, but is a huge file and pisses me off in some ways, maybe just because i didn't take the time to understand it] .... but i will try Firefox, definitely ... pretty resistant on buying a new computer, haven't replaced my pickup quite yet and it's over twenty years old ... youngest piece of equipment i own at the moment is a 1981, lol ... sold last year a skidder considerably older, and am regretting it now, it was solid and good for years yet .... when you pay big bucks the stuff you get should last

Plus with electronic stuff, the longer you wait the more machine you get for less and less money .... to get ADSL you have to be within two miles or so of the telephone switching station, correct? ... we're a lot farther away here ... cable is an option but it requires an ugly 200ft trench right in front of the house, or ugly permanent poles, which we don't have right now, as power/tel/etc is underground ... if/when there is affordable satellite that works well, that'll be great

Anyway, i'm not sure i want to be all that connected, life is busy enough ... it was very freeing to drop the stockwatch subscription, and not be watching the live depth for hours each day ... had to drop it in any case, as they stopped supporting this browser, lol ... yeah i'll upgrade one day, but first a new pickup, and that'll be a while
