I don't come at the illegal immigration issue from a populist perspective but rather from a security and integrity perspective.

That is what switched me. I was for "open borders" if you could solve the welfare/school problem, but since 911, with the added input of living in the downtown LA cesspool, I want to see control of our borders before we move on to other immigration solutions.
