John, you've been around for awhile...so have I. Have we EVER had in any war an average of 6.1 people killed per month since the onset of the war.

To date your chart shows 1538 killed since 3/03, and there are 26 months since then.

Yep, been around a while. Those numbers I cited were to address c2's arguments there had been a drastic decline in fatalities. I don't see it there.

As for your point about the relative numbers, I don't compare the Iraq invasion with WWII and Korea. There are a large number of ways those are incomparable.

You may recall the Clinton administration stopped ethnic conflict in Kosovo with many, many less than this. If we are looking at comparable intervention strategies.

As for the Iraq numbers themselves, if the question is the degree to which the power of the insurgency is measured by these numbers, I think you have to add in the numbers of Iraqis killed and wounded as well. I don't see evidence of a downward trend. Though, in c2's defense, it's very hard to get good numbers including the reluctance of both the US govt and the Iraqi authorities to provide them.

You might want to recheck your division skills:

1538/26 is 59 not 6.1
