I got 63% Dixie and born and reared in the Deep South.

I was taught not to say raised by a teacher as she said animals were the only ones raised...and it stuck with me through the years. If she said it, it had to be true or get a bad grade. Guess it was her way to get the word "authority" over to us kids...doubt it would work now. She was a tough older teacher and told us at the beginning of the term if we said "Yes Mam" or "No Mam" to her it was an automatic F for our grade. She said you only said that to old people and she certainly did not think she was old...HOWL! I thought I would surely fail her class and really thought before I answered her. That's what living fear will do to you at an early age. Will never forget her name as long a I live...<gg>

When I read of her death notice years later, made me think of those days and what we should have said to her. Those words would surely come back to haunt me now, I know. Always remain a lady. She would probably have had a heart attack on the spot if she was teaching now. Oh, the thought of it makes me laugh at how she probably would have reacted. She did keep us in line though to her thinking. That was truly learning obedience.

It depends on which part of Florida we're talking about.
In the Panhandle, they don't claim Southern Florida, they think that is Yankee land...so you may be right...LOL
