Feeling friendly this morning, are we!

Zakrosian needs to take a look at multivariate causation arguments. They may well, for instance, to use a tried and true illustration, sell more ice cream in Alexandria than in DC. Hardly relates to comparative murder rates. Not worth a return post.

Zakrosian just posted some stats with links on this subject to you.

What stats? That Alexandria has a lower murder rate than Washington and VA permits carry where DC doesn't? And that tells you what? The Vatican has a lower murder rate than Alexandria. So by that logic we could claim that that lower murder rate is due to the absence of guns.

The carry permit rate in VA is 2.11%. I could not find a figure for Alexandria, but you can be sure that it is WAY less than the overall VA figure. I'd be surprised at .5%. Then you have to figure out how many of those folks actually carry. UW tells us that in Idaho they regularly do. In Alexandria, it's more likely that they would carry a weapon when transporting something valuable and leave their weapons home when they go out to dinner or a movie. Surely you're not claiming that those few people toting guns have brought down the murder rate in Alexandria. Unless you're claiming that just having a law that enables carry explains the lower rate. Are you claiming that?
