I think he was drawing those conclusions from the much higher rate of gun ownership, but only slightly higher gun involved murder rate in Canada.

Its interesting to look at these stats, but they need to be presented with the total murder rates - regardless of weapon choice. It would also be nice to see the socio-economic data on the perps and victims. Then more accurate conclusions could be drawn.

Unfortunately both the NRA and the anti-gun lobbies selectively use statistics and fail to present a complete picture.

I suspect that the preponderance of guns does lead to some increased shootings in relation to crimes of passion and accidents, but it would be difficult to tell based on the data presented.
