Racing bikes work for women. Getting fast on the bike was a great boon to my dating years. Back when I was a serious cyclist, I was also running races with a women that I ran and biked with. We met a guy at a race (a triathlete) and when he found out we both rode, he asked if he could go out with us on our regular week day evening ride. Afterward she kept saying he was interested in me and I said, oh no, he's definitely interested in you. So we made a plan, since the route was a 2 mile loop around a lake, I said I'd ride along for the first twenty minutes, then crank up the pace and then the test would be, I'd do a break away sprint. If he busted his ass (and he looked like he'd have no trouble catching me, besides the fact that most guys would rather suffer a heart attack then let a woman drop them on a ride) to follow me then we'd know he was interested in me, but if he stayed behind to help her along, then we know he was really interested in her. Sure enough, he stayed behind and they're now married with two kids.
