It is true that I think more highly of doers than cubicle potatoes. However my original point concerned the value of knowledge about a topic. Those with direct experience are usually more credible than those with unknown or limited experience in a matter, in my opinion.

For example, I wouldn't challenge Grainne on her opinions about Ireland because she has more experience either directly or through family members there than I have. Her word is more authoritative on the subject, from what I have read.

Similarly, unless she has family in Switzerland or has spent more time there than I have, she might very well lose a debate about the way things are done in Switzerland.
