chazaq. Alan . There are 17 references below and only in 7 is there a reference that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. I am only researching your word...chazaq.. and the literal base of the word goes back to A PRIMITIVE ROOT.

This is my interpretation. The primitive root of Pharaoh's heart was to be hard against God. The Egyptian elite ruling class hated and debased the nomadic, sheppard, culture of the Hebrews, and hated their God, and God's people. Pharaoh said he knew not this God of the Hebrews and had no knowledge of him. As I have maintained all along God accentuated what at its base and core and ROOT was already in Pharaoh's heart. God did not put it there nor predestine Pharaoh to judgement.

The root of destruction was already in Pharaoh's heart. Just as the original sin of Adam is carried down to every generation so to this day God is "hardening" the heart of sinners. Notice in the first verses, earlier in the verses of Exodus it says Pharaoh hardened his own heart. Then in a trend, the latter verses say God hardened Pharaoh's heart. Do you not see the trend.

So to this day. Earlier in a sinners life God will gently lead or try to lead a sinner to repentance. Then as a sinner's life progresses God will "harden' the heart or accentuate what is already there as a wake up call to the sinner that his wait and see attitude will not last forever.

God will get a sinner to hate and despise Him more and more and to resist the Holy things of God more and more. A person will get more critical of God and loath Christians more and more and make all sorts of false accusations against the Christians and hate and lie and become more dishonest.

Why does God then initiate a process that accentuates what is already hardness in that person's heart. He wants to call that person to repentence. He wants to have that person do a reality check and think to themselves, it must be me . I must be the one screwed up here. Sadly. Most sinners never come to the realization they need a savoir.

I may be blowing hot air off to you. Alan I am as firmly convinced I am right as I am sure you are. We continue to be totally opposite on this issue.

However if I held your belief then why would it be necessary for me to witness to others? God hardens those who he would and saves those he predestines. So why does he even need a church.?

2 Thessalonians, chapter 2

"8": And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

"9": Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

"10": And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

"11": And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

"12": That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness
"7": For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
