According to the Financial Times, between $113.6 billion and $117.3 billion of debt will come due during the next three months, citing Fitch Ratings and Thomson Financial, respectively. This is the largest quarterly repayment in about five years, the paper added.

A chain hospital around Seattle just built a freestanding ER a few miles out, to cherry pick those delicious ER fees. However, the policy maker Doc has ruled that county ambulances must bypass them and go to an ER attached to a real hospital. The ER cost $20 million, and of course they will be looking to get back on their business investment as quickly as possible.

This guy spent overnight in the hospital for a minor surgical procedure:

I remember reading a book a long time ago where a certain celebrity said it was cheaper to check into the Plaza to have a baby ....and the service was better.

My mother recently spent 5 nights in the hospital with a broken shoulder. Lots of support and tests, but no operation.

The bill was $29,000 almost entirely covered by Medicare and insurance thank God.

But still outrageous.
