Your perception of the seriousness seems to be directly related to the party being accused. JMHO. Accusations are frequently proven to be either wrong, unsubstantiated, or unprovable. Under our system we have the presumption of innocence. In the case of Tom DeLay, Democrats seem to have him targeted. It is probably because he has balls. The charges against Tom DeLay appear to be politically motivated. We know that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi have behaved similarly. Harry Reid used his position on the ethics committee to head off the advancement of ethics charges against him.
