Just as with reading tea leaves or wall posters, your interpretation of Hector's statement might be correct, but that isn't clear.

a deal with Lenovo might make more sense if Lenovo knew Dell could not respond with similar AMD products, for example.

Or perhaps AMD could put up a sign saying "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" and offer to cut off HP and IBM in exchange for a large enough order from Dell.

Dang. You may have something there. Maybe AMD is finally really beginning to play this game with the cunningness of Intel.

Lennovo has a large presence in the China market- and going forward are going to be a big presence in the world. What if their plans include a "Intel like" deal with AMD? Lennovo may want to be the Dell of China and that definitely must involve keeping Dell out.

Intel could possibly not match prices that LEnnovo may get from AMD and with the recent technical leadership from AMD, they get a double bang from their deal with AMD!
