I must say, Hizbullah was a lot more impressive. "some thousands", as CNN says, or even "tens of thousands", that's not very big for Baghdad, a city of 5 million with a majority Shia population. And what is Moqty going to demand, al Jafaari's resignation? That the Americans leave now so the Baathists can take over Al Anbar province again? Moqty is just a young thug in a turban. He has to make trouble because he can't get votes. He is al Jafaari's problem now - and Sistani's.

Every demonstration like this that is broadcast goes out with a text and subtext. The text is, "No to America". The subtext is, "Look, we're free to protest our current government". Viewers in other countries begin to wonder, "Why can't I protest against my government?". The subtext is as powerful as the text.
