Great post Ionesco...

If only everyone could have an open mind such as you exhibit here. We are all with our prejudices and a lot of what we believe comes from the pulpit... Just as once Christians preached anti semitic ism against Jews embodied in their message that they killed Christ.... the homophobia is preached from the pulpit too and the Bible used to support the prejudice. Leviticus in particular. Yet when lines from those verses are compared with one another one finds that they are all a little off the wall...

I see God as one of Love. If there is a God. If Christians truly believed in Jesus as the embodiment of God and his son then love, forgiveness and acceptance were all that he preached. WE have gone so far astray as a people from those preachings.

I'm all for validating freedom and choice.

There are ways to achieve that without forcing incompatible lifestyles to coexist in such a way that no one can be comfortable.

I seriously doubt that many children object to take an oath or lie unless they have been predisposed by their adult authority figures.

Pedophiles who infiltrated the Boy Scouts did so over the objection of its ethical standards, and are expelled when found out, so far as I know. Allowing homosexuals to take up leadership positions is not going to improve that, in my opinion.
