We have to use more solar whereever possible. Carmanah Technologies makes the solar power units for bus shelters using LED lights. They've just received a contract from Edinburgh Scotland. If they can work there they can work anywhere in the US, excluding Alaska. They also make flashing cross walk signals that are solar as well as runway lights, marine buouys, warning lights etc.

Street lights have to big the biggest waste of electricity ever conceived.

Actually, the lights are on for a reason ..
You can't just flip an on/off switch on a base-load
generator .. ie it's "on" all the time .. The power
companies need a load during off-peak demand periods
ie at night .. hence the burning street lights and lit up
office buildings .. they'd also love it if you wanted
to re-charge your plug-in hybrid at night <gg> .. too
bad Detroit won't sell us one ..

Triff ..
