Brian, so what is the incentive for small investors to hold
onto AMAT for a long time? Believing that at some
point the stock MUST go up to some lofty level so that you
can cash out is wishful thinking IMO.... Like I said before,
AMAT is a great, powerful and dominant company in their
industry. Just what have your gains been over the last
5 years while holding? Are you disillusioned on your returns and your part of the annual dividend that AMAT will be
paying while insiders get much below cost option awards while
you are left holding the bag with a stock that is going
nowhere? Be honest!

IMO, a dividend payout by AMAT is an admission that the compnay has a lot of available money, and they don't see the stock value appreciating to any significant degree for quite a while. They have to offer the big investment
funds/institutions something to keep them holding their
stock. This really doesn't benefit the small guy as taxes,
and money tied up represents lost investment opportunities
in other areas.

This is my opinion. I have no financial holdings in AMAT
and nothing to gain or lose either way. I will consider
buying AMAT below $14. The sooner it gets there the better,
IMO. If it doesn't, no big deal to me. BB
