I don't like it either, but almost every tax is social engineering, with winners and losers. At least we can set ourselves on a path to the greater good. There are so many benefits to a country that consumes 25% of the worlds oil to be more efficient and conserve. It's worth the manipulation of the "free" economy. re: Having said that, I don't think our set of tools has been completely developed yet, so I'm not opposed to experimentation. I think one of the areas needing more development is simply better transparency of company practices, and internal financials. I don't understand what you mean by "better transparency" wrt this situation? John
