AMD has NEVER been in such a strong position with its CPG business. And with geometries shrinking, and a new fab coming online, they will also have unprecedented capacity in 2006.

Finally, Intel's 65nm P4 offerings have recently appeared to be quite feeble, with anemic clock speeds, and higher-than-expected power dissipation, and Yonah won't have EM64T.

Look at the history of the K7/K8. Great technology, and a few quarters of really nice profits. But the K7 is almost EOL, and K8 is surely about half over. K8 needs to generate lots of profits in the next year, or it will have been an overall financial failure. I hope it does, but time will tell.

Thats not true, K8 is far from over, the next cores K9 ect. will just be improvments of the existing core (multicore ect.). also the K8 itself is en evolution of K7.
