YOu said sodium pentathol was OK. Sodium pentathol is to torture like lethal injection is to hanging. What we are talking about is forceable extraction of information. You are trying to sanitize things, but not willing to discuss the need to do this which is based on the nature of our enemy and what actions he takes. Philosophically we are all against violence to attain information but i am not willing to let another WTC hit the dirt, if there is something that could be done in advance. There are no rules for terrorists. They are not covered by Geneva period. Mike

I suggested that torture is ineffective as a means of interrogation. This is what I have read. Experts in interrogation universally say that information gained under duress and physical pain is useless.

Nah, Orca, I won't let you just dodge the hard question like that. Yes, experts say that torture is not useful BUT they do not say that physical pressure of all types is not useful. So what would you do and how would you draw the line?

And if you decide to be Mr. Purity and offer your terrorist cups of tea, how will you feel when the news comes that the truck bomb just exploded in the downtown shopping center, killing 150, including your wife's sister?
