We'll see what happens however every other "prediction" of groups like the Brady Campaign have been absolutely wrong. People in groups like that claimed there would blood all over the streets when the first states started issuing concealed carry permits. It never happened. Violent crime rates decreased in those states. Now just about every state has a concealed carry law for law abiding citizens. The way I see it is police and law abiding citizens that can get permits have the law abiding part in common. If a 19 year old kid with no criminal record can be trusted with a gun, so can an adult with no criminal record. The difference is the adult with the CCW permit doesn't cost the taxpayer a dime. The police officer costs the taxpayer $70,000 to $100,000 a year, maybe more.

Ask yourself this. If a police officer was mugged or somebody broke into the home of a police officer or broke into a police station what would happen? Why should the rest of us law abiding citizens have these same choices. If the police make a bad mistake they are generally prosecuted. So should concealed carry holders. However, these events are lot rarer than the police or a CCW performing a justifiable homicide. Who are the police? They are simply a subset of law abiding citizens. They are NOT the ONLY law abiding citizens and they are certainly NOT the ONLY people trained in firearms. There are a lot of ex military officers, NCOs and enlisted folks out there trained in the use of firearms to include fully automatic weapons. These people are just as patriotic, law abiding and trained as any 19 year police officer and usually more so with much more mature judgement.
