Yeah, I was amazed to read a statistic that said Americans save 1% of their after tax income. That's incredible! That it's so low. My behavior is totally unAmerican in this area (I probably save ~50% of my after tax income). It's not a new thing at all, but the number is just sort of mind-boggling.

How do people ever get rich if the average dude saves only 1% of his after tax income? And somebody is buying all those million dollar California homes, so somebody is getting rich.
