Amy, RE: offshoring

Perhaps people aren't blindly following the offshoring trend after all.

On the front page of today's Financial Times, "Companies question outsource benefits".

Here's the quick summary:

"Many large companies that outsourced information technology and other services are bringing operations back in-house after failing to achieve expected savings, according to a survey.

Almost three-quarters of companies questioned experienced significant problems with outsourcing projects and a quarter had brought functions back in-house, the study by Deloitte Consulting found.
"

This just reinforces my opinion that coporations won't just blindly follow a trend that doesn't work if it is a bad trend.

The fact that Silicon Valley VCs are pushing this particular trend in spite of its ill-advise is mostly indicative of how far behind the times Silicon Valley VCs are.
