Wrong Glenn, James Bath was at the time the sole US representative of Salem Bin Lauden, Osama's brother. GW was at the time the son of thew CIA director of the USA so it's perfectly reasonable that foreigh interests would throw money at him, especially oil interests from Saudi Arabia.

This was "free money" for GW and started him on his career. As we all know, those who give us money later on end up being owed big favors. Maybe that explains why the Bush administration was hands off terrorism until after 9-11, and why since 9-11 Bush has seemed utterly unconcerned about catching Salem's brother.

Also, consider the fact Bush Sr. has had long and extensive business dealings with the Bin Lauden family through Carlyle Group. Bin Lauden is the Halliburton of Saudi Arabia. Carlyle created and trained the mercenary security force protecting the Saudi royal family. It is all a tightly-knit group os mega-wealthy and powerful secretive people.
