Bank makes money off of 20% rates that more than offset deadbeats. How about making loan sharking legal as well. There is more to it. I am not for a nanny state either. I take your point but can you see mine? Mike

LB, Credit card people intentionally target young people, especially college students, knowing that they can put the onus on the parents. It is a scam!! Plain and simple. In many cases, the parents are not made aware of their child having a credit card, until he/she is butt high in debt, and has to go crying to mommie, and daddy.

Any person that is not an adult, and responsible for their own debt, should not be able to get a credit card unless the parent co-signs the contract, and agrees to cover any delinquencies.
