Yiwu, The first big wave of mainland Chinese imports into the US of which I am aware was machine tools and tooling. This stuff began to arrive here in the late 1970's and early 1980's, the first of it via Taiwan but manufactured on the mainland.

I was told at the time by importers that this stuff was being produced in facilities built by the Chinese communist government for domestic consumption but was now being exported.

Were these first Chinese manufacturing plants "sweat shops" like the ones being built more recently?

Yes human rights violations - like when little girls in sweatshops get acid poured on them because they do not work fast enough - what did you think I was talking about yiwu? How come you say that humans rights violation is nothing - I do not understand - you have lost me. Are you saying pouring acid on little girl in sweatshop is nothing - certainly you can't be this cold hearted - I am confused?

The west should have used it's muscle to force chinese to come into the 21st century in a way where little girls don't get acid poured on them for not working fast enough - but like my previous post said - pig men profit seekers at the top of multi nationals don't care about poor little slant eye children. They care about who they can corrupt and bilk and step on to get more profit. But then what else is new - hehe.
