Derek, Those at 18 should be responsible for themselves, but let's get real, and see just how many of them are. How many of them have ever been away from home for any length of time? How many of them have had someone "give" them plastic money? How many know to keep a journal on every penny spent, so they can plan for the pay off?

By the time someone gets into his 20s, he has usually learned his lesson about money, but those that are just getting out on their own, are a bit gullible, and can be sold a pie in the sky sometimes.

I don't think the government should hold anyone's hand in any situation that they got themselves into. I just feel that the credit card people have found ways to bilk young people. How to combat that, I don't know, and am glad it isn't up to me.

I had my problems too, but it was because of poker, and not knowing how to reconcile a bank balance. You can bet your bippie that I was taught that lesson post haste.
