Yes ideas are one thing, practical politics is another. Even if my preference for low taxes and reduced spending was far more common across the country there would be a number of practical political problems that would make it hard to implement and even harder to maintain.

Taro, it's all about the Laffer curve:

Of course, one has to remember that the Laffer curve is all about maximizing tax revenues, not necessarily minimizing the impact of taxes on the economy.

Crap. Pay as you go is the best answer. Want to go to war? Raise taxes that year to pay for the appropriation. Want to build a school? Raise taxes that year. Want to close a school? Cut taxes that year. Find a lower cost to maintain the roads? Lower taxes that year.

It's what real people do every day... not complicated.
