sounds right to me. these people want to change the church so i expect they must not believe in divine guidance of pope in matters of doctrine either.

I don't understand why they stay in the church, surely there are other ways to practice religion outside the Catholic church that supports their beliefs.

IMO the answer to that question is simply that Ratzinger is a religious hardliner who insists on retaining traditional Catholic orthodoxy, and refuses to accept the views that the church should adapt to "modern" cultural trends.


In other words, meet the new pope, same as the old pope. I don't know why anyone should have expected a radical change of direction.
