I've been busy this week working on the Pinewood Derby cars
for the annual cub scout race.

This year they opened the event to the parents for a separate
race. There is an entry fee of $15 to help raise funds for
the pack.

So this year it means that I had to work on a total of 4 cars.
It was a team effort. The kids worked on the designs,
sanding, and finishing. Wifie put a few coats of the finest
paint job this side of the Earl Scheib Garage. I did the
cutting, carving, axil polishing and wheel balancing and
alignment.

Tonight is the weigh in. Each car has to be under 5 oz.
We do some fine tuning and weight addition/subtraction at the
school.

I ran each car up and down the hardwood floors here until
they tracked somewhat straight.

As the defending champs, we need to have a decent showing to
prove it wasn't just luck. <g>

The Clappy Racing Team is sporting some nice vehicles.
Three are concept cars and mine is a high tech dragster with
lead weight melted into the bored holes in the rear end of it.
One car is shaped like a big pencil. The other is a F-14 Jet
Plane. And the last car looks just like an ice cream
popsicle with the chocolate thin shell and stick. Looks good
enough to eat.

This is the best event of the year. Tomorrow we race and
have a big party. Should be a great time.
