The minority rightwing is dreaming they got a mandate. They dreamt wrong. I fully expect 70% of them running for re-election next year to get swept out, even in fairly conservative states. Frist isn't running, but but he and Jeb Bush are also finished as presidential material. The new battle is within the GOP. The moderates are the swing vote in this country and in the congress and senate. They are starting to get organized and starting to be courageous enough to publicly stand up to the rightwing. Furthermore, only GOP moderates stand a chance of being president in 2008. McCain, Hagel, etc. Moderation in all things has been my motto. Now it must be the motto for our country and both political parties. What the people want is bi-partisanship, not more division. Only moderates can supply that. And yes, Kerry is a moderate too. Moderate-liberal and very willing to be bi-partisan.
