One thing they did was to ignore that while the natives did not 'own' the land under the new ottoman land tenure system, they did in many cases own the olive trees

OK, I guess Israel should pay them restitution for the destroyed trees...

These 'immigrants' were in many cases ignoring the illegitimacy of the ownership of effendis they were 'buying' the land from ... they were also coming with a plan to dominate the entire area, subjugate all inhabitants, these were not simple farmers coming to plant crops and build homes, though they did those things as well


Ah well, the Turks certainly didn't do anything as bad as ignoring the nuances of the history of property ownership among the Armenians...I quite take your point.
