But it's not true. Nature is merciless to inadequate or simply unlucky DNA. All combinations and possibilities of DNA are cast out into 3D and only the lucky or smart or well-designed are reproduced ready for the next combination to have a go at life. Check out the Flynn Effect to see that in fact, intelligence has been increasing around the world for a century. The first principle of science is that theories have to fit the facts. The fact is that measured intelligence is increasing. Therefore, the theory that reduced intelligence is being bred is simply not true. Maybe the reasons are obscure, but reasons don't matter. The result is what is actually happening. Perhaps DNA-based intelligence has actually declined as per the theory, [which I doubt], and maybe there is less lead poisoning, less nutrient deficiency during development years, maybe tv watching raises intelligence. Low birth rate in the developed world means the populations aren't growing quickly. I don't see how that's much of a problem if that's what people want in their lives. What matters much more than quantity is quality. The quality has been improving decade after decade [in intelligence anyway, if not other aspects], so total brainpower has been increasing rapidly in the developed world. <from my perspective any meme that brings ultimate death is a bad one - ME ME ME just doesn't work it seems. > Bear in mind that humans specialize and that's good for the gene pool. The person with the Me Me Me meme is still part of the overall human family and is instrumental in propagating the success of that 6 billion person gene pool in which every one of their genes is replicated 1000s of times, so even if they die, they enhance their genetic propagation by helping propel the human gene pool. The mere fact that they earn money means they are doing that good work, like a non-reproducing worker bee in a swarm. They are instrumental in creating It , the next stage of consciousness in evolutionary process. Perhaps more so than if they just pumped out some more DNA. That's my theory, Mqurice
