I know that the rest of Canada may now consider Harper and his group as a legitimate replacement for the liberals. It would make sense as the man is honest and intelligent. They too could save Canada.

However, the Conservative are an absolute no-go here. At least for the time being. And I am not sure there is time for them to find the right people before the next referendum.

Maybe it is just to late!

>without ever throwing out the devils you know.

The question is not whether they should be thrown out, but whether they should be thrown out before all the facts are fully investigated. I suppose you imply that you know enough already, so throw 'em out NOW! Martin, in his speech, essentially admitted responsibility, because it happened on his watch as finance minister, just as the contra affair happened on the great "conservative's" watch. However, in contrast to that analogy, when all the facts are known, if he even stands for re-election, it will be because he promulgated the judicial investigation and punished the legally-proven wrong doers. If he runs, it will on his record as whistle blower. Can you say with certainty that to throw 'em all out NOW is not a case of throwing out "the baby with the bathwater" ?

>>"Conservative' has an uphill struggle, too reminiscent of inherited privilege, divine right of bureaucracy and routine military adventures".

So the conservatives are so only in name? Their proclivity to military adventure is conjured up by their name, not by their past performance. Hah! That's very imaginative, Marcos. How long have you been reading this thread ?
