"I'd like to know what actually happened."

Want to know my take on it? I think there was a person named Jesus about that time. He was an Essene and wanted to eliminate the cruft that Judaism had accumulated. I personally think his message about being the son of God was closer to we are all the children of God, i.e. we all are equal in the eyes of God. In other words, he was a Populist. He managed to irritate someone with power and they arranged to have him killed by the state. If he wasn't specifically sent to spread a message, the God I believe in took him in later. I think God has a soft spot for those whose sacrifice for others...

I don't buy into the miracles. Those were high profile items that would have gotten a lot of press. I think the True Believers promoted those to make him look more connected than he was. Sadly, they didn't think his message would stand on its own. Maybe they were right, but I still think it is sad.

I like the message I get from the New Testament. I don't like what many do with it. But that is my personal belief.

Fair enough.

Maybe it would be more educational if we discussed whether God only created man here on earth and we are all alone or if God spread life throughout the universe?
