As indicators, I believe neither existing nor new home sales lead in anything. There is simply too much lag time. Auto sales are far more timely. They are usually reported on the 1st day of the month for the prior month.

However, homes sales data are market movers these days. Housing stocks routinely move multiple percent per day, such as today. I am reflecting on a missed opportunity when it was quite obviously that Mr."consensus" was low on the estimates.

You lost me with your BMW story. Are you suggesting Mini-coopers are not luxury cars? You obviously have not seen the price tags for those babies.
