I have no doubt that this is true. It debunks the right wing myth as reps as a permanent majority. The religious right offends the secular. The supply side right offends poor and lower middle class voters (wrongly imo). The libertarians offend those who have strong social concerns. And so on. Clinton with all the warts takes away enough to win. The prescription for victory in 2004 will not stay the same moving forward. Republicans are repeating post FDR dems. Where will the next great political idea come from and what will it be? Mike

Perhaps in your zeal to stick another fork in conservatives, you missed the source of the "poll" you quoted, in the column, btw, by the liberal E.J. Dionne Jr.

The latest poll to bring home this message was released late last week by the Democracy Corps, a Democratic consortium led by pollster Stan Greenberg and consultant James Carville.
