With all due respect the alternatives you offered as other reasons to go to war other than the WMD are rather impotent. The American people have known about Genocide in other countries so what would get them riled up to go to war with Iraq over the mass graves... (many examples of this.. pograms by Russians,Rwanda etc. Did you see us moving in fast ?) The U.N. Resolutions. Well, some people might smoke a pipe around a wood stove and contemplate whether it would be worth it. Iraq really didn't impose a threat to us and Saddam was running his own country pretty well after Desert Storm No, we needed an impetus to get us enthused about war. The 9/11 attacks provided that. It only needed to be built on and that nuclear bit where the Administration talked about the smoking gun and mushroom cloud of the WMD did it. I seriously doubt that anything other than our fear of another country having the weaponry necessary to destroying us would get us riled up sufficiently to support a war.. which Congress did in full vote of confidence in the Intel... There are many to blame but ultimately as a leader should appropriately say, THE BUCK STOPS HERE.... Instead the blame as been defrayed over a lot of others and most importantly to me the entire purpose of our going to war has been altered to be DEMOCRACY to the Totalitarian Government of Iraq. Which could lead one to think.. Hmmmm there are other totalitarian governments and other countries with REAL Nuclear bombs and what are we going to do about them. What's good for the goose has to be good for the gander...or does it. Is American ready for another war. Well, we haven't finished this one yet.
