The software I mentioned is meant to help those who don't want the hassle of securing their wireless network through manually configuring it. I believe that it has merit.

If people want to take the time and make the effort they can manually secure their wireless network. I think that Wi-Fi Defense does what it says it does. "a simple and affordable way to secure and monitor your home wireless network"

Compatibility is important and like a lot of software sold unfortunately the compatibility issue is sometimes not explained clearly before a customer springs for the program.

And yes a router is needed so you were right on to bring that up.
