< isolationism is policy designed to isolate yourself from the rest of the world in many areas. It is not disagreement about policy ideas, or differing interests>

We are indeed isolated -- isolated from a world that views us a militaristic nation bent on imposing our will on other countries by force of arms. We made it clear -- we have no use for those who won't go along with us. We don't need to act in a legal or even a moral or ethical manner. We have the military power to force our way into a country and bomb and kill as we chose -- we cannot be stopped in that sense. We could have adopted policies that did not isolate ourselves but the militaristic hotheads prevailed and the world recoiled.

Now we watch the spectacle of a low-life bully like Bolton being nominated to carry that message to the UN -- and the message is "up yours". We are indeed isolated as a matter of Bush policy.
