When the US had a seriously progressive tax system, did that stop the march of capitalism? Nope. Now, OTOH, we're going to get lapped several times by China and India and, OMG, maybe even Europe. The rightwing economic dream to turn us into a very poor majority plus very rich minority is bankrupting us and turning us into a third world country.
