When people like Coulter and Delay become the standard of quality for the GOP i never said they were the standard for quality in the Republican party. You cannot lump them together any more than you can lump Clinton and Rather together. (Actually, they both lied, so maybe you can; but I hope you know what I mean.) Nine of the top ten junket recipients are Democrats. You'd better line them up before you pillory Tom DeLay for it. It is just convenient that he had a recomendation that his travel expenses were reported correctly, and then the Democrats refused to meet. Ann Coulter is abrasive. She is a lot like Maureen Dowd, only she is not tied to one liberal publication. She is funny in a sarchastic way. I have watched her on TV shows being rudely interupted and treated badly. She does not tollerate it long and starts behaving just as rudely in a more obvious way. Most liberals I hae seen her matched with try to keep her from saying anything at all. "If Harry Reid is arranging bribes to be paid to his son, it is wrong. If Jim McDeromott is illegally releasing tapes to the media, it is wrong (and the courts convictd him of it). If Bill Clinton is raping women, attempting to rape other women, lying under oath, and everything else he did, it is wrong. If Bob Packwood is doing the same kind of stuff as Clinton (except lying under oath) it is wrong." If any of those people are found quilty as charged, then I am all for it. However, in the 5 years since I've watched the political scene more closely, it seems the GOP is the party with the most perpetrators of criminal activity. Clinton was convicted. You defended him. Tom DeLay has not been convicted yet you ave attacked him as if he were guilty. You defend Democrats because they have not been convicted. Use the same standards both ways. "Just because most of the ethics problems are on the left of the aisle does not mean that all Democrats are bad. Just because you perceive that Democrats are to be forgiven their ethical shortcomings and that Republicans must be pilloried does not make you bad. It does imply partisanship." That has never been my position and you know it. But acceptable non partisanship to you would have me supporting everything the GOP does. Based on the commentary between us, it seemed to be consistent with your posts. Perhaps I am not paying close enough attention. I will try harder in the future. You'd have to send the entire staff of most MSM with her. I understand that a person who is a well informed as she is is dangerous, and thus you feel compelled to sink her. Well informed? You're kidding? "No, just read the bibliography in one of her books. Afterword you will be allowed to retract that comment. You don't have to read the book, just the bibliography. the woman is well read and concise." So what? There are a lot of well read people who are badly informed. In comes from reading only what you want to hear. However, my issue with Coulter is not her intellect and her knowledge, but its her rude and abrasive manner and her ability to use hyperbole in the most destructive and slanderous of ways. Anyone who behaves like Coulter should be treated accordingly. Its clear that Coulter is very literate and very articulate and she uses that ability to pommel her enemy with disgusting and irreverent venom. The fact that she is a GOP icon suggests that GOP standards have been lowered. Having said that, there are some conservative media like NRO that refuse to publish her articles. When more do the same, my respect for the right will go up but not until that happens. IMO you all need to be less concerned with power and more concerned with self policing. You had sounded like you thought she was a dimwitted bimbo (paraphrase). She has a place in the public forum. She does not suffer fools or liars lightly. She is sufficiently armed to be able to win most debates. If she were a little less informed, she might have to be politer. She gets on TV and sells books because she is an authority politcs and media. I do not subscribe to her combative methods. That does not mean that I hate her for them. Just as you do not condemn Clinton for philandering or lying under oath. I never said she was a party Icon. Is The Captain of Chaquidick your idea of a Democrat Icon? He just is a leader of the party. Ann Coulter is just a member of the conservative team. There are so many lies being spread by the biased media that a person like her is necessary to get the word out. Do I judge you by the incoherant ramblings of Jeanie Garafalo (spelling) or Michael Moore?
