You seem to be looking for silver linings amid the extremely cloudy skies. Few companies in this sector are guiding higher and if they are, it's for flat to up a few %. No one is looking at what is going to happen in the 4th qtr of 2005, since they can't get a solid handle on the 2nd or 3rd qtr, imo.

Add that the companies are still trying to tout their ability to perform in this tough environment, yet they are failing to deliver substantial improvements on the bottom line. Many that got lean during 2003, don't look so lean right now.

I'm not knocking this sector as a whole but everyone should be very aware of the headwind you will face if you buy these stocks at this point in time. As has been pointed out many times, most of these companies are flush with cash but sitting on billions of dollars isn't doing the shareholders any favors.
