Hmmm, well I'm not interested in "asset classes" - that's an excuse the alleged professionals use when they can't pick stocks.

As for the 2000-2002 timeframe, that's when I really screwed up and came out flat. I guess I wasn't supposed to make a lot of money in 2003-2004 but I did.

If you can't define the beginning of a bear market having happened, then following a bear market prescription doesn't make a lot of sense to me intuitively. Everyone has concerns and looks at their favorite indicators - collectively, their opinions run the gamut from bull to bear this year. It's mush. It's gibberish. I hear it on CNBC and elsewhere all day.

Defining the fate of entire markets based on your gut reaction to bond rates is a major stretch, one I am not willing to make.

Sometimes I am nimble and astute, sometimes I am an ignorant clod. If the former outnumber the latter often enough (roughly 65-70%), I will do fine, come what will.

I do say I am up nicely the last five years. And I'm told the weather is fine but getting cooler in South Africa - I have been away a couple of months for family reasons in the US. Looking forward to getting back in a couple of weeks, thanks.
