The invasion in 1931 was a separate even from anything that happened in the 19th century. It wasn't one slow continuous invasion. Japan seized Taiwan, then things were peaceful for years, then Japan started another much larger invasion.

Taiwan has always been part of China.

Define "ALWAYS" for me, please...

Because I seem to recall the Chinese making the same excuse for their invasion of Tibet.

"It always belonged to us", they claimed...

But those nasty mean old Tibetan monks, lead by the tyrannical Dalai Lama, stole it from us...
