Not so fast. Maurice. Some future musing. I will be the first to object the peacemaking between Taiwan and China if I am a Hong Kongese. Jay has every intention to keep China and Taiwan apart because Hong Kong is going to be a peace casualty. Why? His beloved Hong Kong is going to become a useless rock and his physical gold collection will only pile up in his empty building. All those Taiwanese who now travel between Taiwan and China (according to Jay's estimate that more Taiwanese now who live in China than mainland Chinese who still live in Taiwan. Though not true. You got the idea.) will no longer go through that useless island any more. Some said China is the world manufacturers. Why do I need to go Hong Kong instead of Taiwan directly if I am on a business trip to visit manufacturers? All production engineers/production managers/purchasing/executives live in Taiwan. Who need Hong Kong that useless island? All foreigners now can go Shanghai and Beijing through Taipei instead of Hong Kong faster. Financial stuffs. Taiwan and China have more than enough finance/investment Phds that can do a lot better jobs than that tiny city's financing manager. Sightseeing. Taiwan have tropical beaches, 13000 feet mountains, fishing industries, honest and industrial people, world class manufacturers, all kind of exotic fruits and more.. Shipping ports? Three Taiwan cities can accommodate more than any shipping port need. Who need Hong Kong? Hong Kongese can not even speak Mandarin properly. The only reason that Hong Kong can do OK now is because the tension between China and Taiwan. I know I do not need to go that useless rock at all if I travel from USA to Taiwan or China now. From the above pondering, Hong Kong will be the first peace casualty after the peace between China and Taiwan. Why do you think Hong Kong people can afford such force? Hong Konese will say no peace between Taiwan and China ever. :-) JMHO. (gggg)
