delivered on Friday (and set up today) and now it is already out of date! :(

The only way to avoid that problem is to wait until you have to buy, and then do so as soon as the new cycle is released.

That's where I'm at: looks like next round might be it, again, my G3 stuff is starting to be a tad on the antique side. Shall see, and will pull the trigger right then and there -- or not -- until right after the next upgrade, depending mainly on do I have to.

Moominoid -

Who'd you buy it from? If I were you, I'd contact whoever it was and tell them you want to return the machine unless they come up with another way to make you happy. Be nice about it, but be firm, too.

Most merchants are willing to find a way to keep their customers happy, but you have to ask.

It's not out of date. What you can do with version B can be done with version A.
So, there are a few items that are standard now whereas they were add ons before.
Buy a car and sell it a week later and see how much you get for it.

There is something called a product cycle. If you checked around in the Apple web pages, you would of known that a new version should be coming out soon. Soon being sometime in April or May.

You may be able to get the new OS at a discount.
