'US invasion of Iraq was a resource war'

"A resource war" is not a commonly used term. I suppose Melanie Gosling means a war waged in order to conquer and seize resources, in this case oil. If that is what she means than I think she is making a very unreasonable statement, and one that is not backed up by anything in her article.

At one time, I believed we were there because neocons had the mistaken belief that we should go around ridding the world of dictators. No longer. We are in Iraq for one reason and one reason only which is to control the oil flow in the ME and to insure that certain American corporations reap the benefits.

And that's what she says........she doesn't make claims that the US gov't is planning to seize the oil but rather she is saying the gov't is setting itself up to control the oil. The American corporate powers are doing the actual seizing.

Someone once said that Hitler was the anti Christ. My response was that the anti Christ would present as good, not evil. And that's how the Bush administration operates.......it doesn't do things that are clearly negative or bad. It does things in a way that is covered in ambiguity and can be seen from several POVs so that their supporters can foolishly continue supporting them without feeling guilt. It sends in its corporate colleagues to do the dirty work while it spins the truth for the faithful.

That is why a whole infrastructure of media is being built up around the GOP to present their version of the truth. I listen to them talk on say Hannity and Colmes and their truth is so warbled and perverted that it bares very little resemblance to any thing real. However, its serves its purpose by allowing the true believers to believe.

Having said that, the war in Iraq is a "resource war". Its about controlling what's left of the major oil in the world and getting as much of that oil for America. Think about it.......many, many oil experts are saying the world is running out of oil. America is heavily dependent on oil. Therefore, a wise and capable president would be doing all in his power to wean us off the ca ca. Instead, Bush is foolishly invading countries to keep us in control while proposing foolishly gratuitous ventures like drilling in the ANWR. And you all go right along with it, supporting him every inch of the way. Nero fiddles while Rome burns.

At various points the article ranges from questionable to ridiculous, and none of the points have anything behind them other then gratuitous assertion.

I understand.......you have to see it that way in order to maintain your belief system. Just understand......current oil prices are escalating not because demand is so great....its because there is not enough supply.
