Interesting.

I said that I loved where I lived, meaning my little socially liberal, non-racist, tolerant of gay people, generally progressive little haven somewhere in a blue state.

I could rephrase that slightly to represent my experience:

I love where I live, meaning my little conservative, non-racist, tolerant of gay people, generally progressive little haven somewhere in a blue state.

Believe it or not, the America of 2005 is not the America of the early 1960's. I've lived in many places in this country and only rarely witnessed overt racism or dislike of gays.

In my opinion, and it's just that, you could benefit from getting out on the road, away from your little haven, and see what America is all about. Stop and have a glass of wine with me at the local wine bar, head up and visit ManyMoose and take a short canoe trip, visit Ish and his coffee shop regulars for a donut and morning coffee. It might be an eye-opening experience for you.

last i looked, your little socially liberal blue state is still part of the union....america....that is where the discussion began....

we were discussing the broader topic, at the time of why bill loved living in the united states (not his liberal enclave blue state, massachusetts)....so now you are begging the question, equivocating, answering my direct question with a non sequitur response

is there something about staying on point that you don't understand?
